Delight your audiences with this dynamic setting of the 16th-century Spanish carol "Ríu Ríu Chíu," an advanced-intermediate arrangement for clarinet quintet with optional percussion--instantly downloadable for your next holiday performance. It is perfect for holiday events, parties, recitals, or caroling gigs. The arrangement, which progresses briskly to an exhilarating conclusion, was written for advanced ensembles, from college ensembles to professional quintets.

This 16th-century Spanish villancico, a musical form popular on the Iberian Peninsula, is a carol used during Advent season. The title is actually made of mostly nonsense syllables that represent the song of a nightingale. However, "Ríu" translates to "River" in Catalan, a tribute to the birthplace of the suggested composer, Bartomeu Càrceres. Although not as well known as some American carols, it is a lively, dynamic arrangement that brings a taste of Europe to your holiday celebrations. Originally a choral-music classic, I hope you enjoy this new setting for winds.
