This intermediate clarinet quintet digital download arrangement of Edwin E. Bagley’s "National Emblem March" is perfect for patriotic events, American holiday concerts (such as July 4th, Flag Day, or Memorial Day), pops concerts, and military ceremonies. This setting is written for groups ranging from advanced high school ensembles to college groups to professional quintets. I have included alternate Bb clarinet parts in lieu of a missing Eb clarinet and/or alto clarinet.

When I was a kid growing up in Texas, every year at Christmas time, we would watch the classic movie Miracle on 34th Street. In the movie, when we get our first glimpse of the Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade (which was the actual Macy’s parade, which they filmed live in 1946 for the movie), there is a marching band playing the trio section from National Emblem. Little did I know back then that I would go on to perform that piece hundreds of times in my future Air Force Band career.

This favorite American march brings back fond memories for many who remember it from this movie and other films in which it appeared. Edwin Bagley’s National Emblem has become synonymous with patriotic music, military ceremonies, and Americana celebrations. Although scored for only five clarinets, this arrangement sounds full and complete and will help you and your audiences celebrate our country during your patriotic events. Originally scored for a full military band, I hope you enjoy this unique setting for winds.
