As always, I have included alternate Bb clarinet parts in lieu of a missing Eb, and as this piece was originally written for a pair of basset horns, I have included alternate Eb alto clarinet parts. I have also included a contrabass clarinet part in lieu of/or in addition to a contra-alto clarinet.
The work was originally written for a 13-member ensemble, including pairs of oboes, clarinets, basset horns, French horns in F & Bb, bassoons, and a single kontrabass. This setting is written for a pair of basset horns with Eb, Bb, bass, and contra-alto clarinets, allowing the three solo instruments (Eb, Bb, basset horn) to fully demonstrate their technical and lyrical capabilities.
