This intermediate digital download arrangement for Clarinet Choir of the "Adagio" from Mozart's iconic Serenade No. 10, KV 361 "Gran Partita" was originally written during the Classical Era, but the exact date of composition is unknown; educated guesses put it around 1780-1784. Noël Goodwin describes this movement in his CD liner notes for Mozart: Three Wind Serenades, Sinfonia Concertante, ASV CD COS 242, as "virtually an 'operatic' ensemble of passionate feeling and …warmth."

It is perfect for recitals, contests, competitions, weddings, graduations, special events, background-dinner-music gigs, and educational outreach performances. The arrangement was written for groups ranging from advanced high school choirs to college ensembles to professional clarinet choirs. As always, I have included alternate Bb clarinet parts in lieu of a missing Eb, and as this piece was originally written for a pair of basset horns, I have included alternate Eb Alto clarinet parts. I have also included a Contrabass Clarinet part in lieu of/or in addition to a Contra Alto Clarinet.

This masterpiece by Mozart allows the three solo instruments (Eb, Bb, Basset) to fully demonstrate their capabilities, allowing for some ornamentation starting in mm 22, with the restatement of the main theme.
