Baba Yetu

For Woodwind Quintet

🎶Delight your audiences with this intermediate arrangement for woodwind quintet of the iconic piece, "Baba Yetu", by Christopher Tin from the video game Civilization IV--instantly downloadable for your next performance. The arrangement is ideal for Pops concerts, video game-themed concerts, background dinner music gigs, children's concerts, or educational outreach. For educational outreach programs, if you do not have a percussionist available, ask a volunteer percussion student from the audience to play the egg shaker part. It's easy enough to sight-read and fun for the student and the ensemble.

🎶Two-time Grammy-winning composer of concert and media music Christopher Tin wrote this iconic piece in 2005. The title is Swahili for "Our Father," and the text is based on The Lord's Prayer. It is the first piece of video game music to be nominated for and to win a Grammy Award. This tune became popular with show choirs and has been transcribed for orchestra, concert band, piano/vocal, and now woodwind quintet. The arrangement was written for most ensembles, ranging from advanced high school quintets and college groups to amateur ensembles and professional quintets. As always, I have included an alternate bass clarinet part in lieu of a missing bassoon. Originally scored for a studio orchestra, I hope you enjoy this interpretation for winds.
