Gabriel’s Oboe

For Woodwind Quintet

🎄🎄🎄Enchant your audiences with this intermediate arrangement for woodwind quintet of Ennio Morricone's beautiful piece "Gabriel's Oboe" from the 1986 movie The Mission--instantly downloadable for your next performance. This arrangement features a beautiful solo for the oboist in your woodwind quintet. It is perfect for recitals, weddings, educational outreach, holiday events, and funerals. This lyrical gem was written for advanced high school woodwind quintets, as well as college and professional ensembles. As always, I have included an alternate bass clarinet part in lieu of a missing bassoon.

🎄Oscar- and Grammy-winning Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, trumpeter, and pianist Ennio Morricone wrote "Gabriel's Oboe" for the 1986 Oscar-nominated film The Mission. Morricone's beautiful score for The Mission went on to win a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe Award, though it was overlooked for an Academy Award (in favor of Herbie Hancock's 'Round Midnight). Many artists have recorded this popular tune, including Yo-Yo Ma, Sir James Galway, and Sarah Brightman. Originally scored for a studio orchestra, I hope you enjoy this unique setting of a holiday classic for winds.
